FAQ
"ChipFixx is committed to serving our customers responsibly during these challenging times. Our top priority is the health and safety of our customers and staff. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we've implemented additional safety measures, including:
- Ensuring staff who feel unwell stay home, with compensation to support them.
- Sanitizing all shipments, following Health Canada's guidelines.
We appreciate your understanding as some shipping delays may occur. Thank you for supporting our business!
If your vehicle was made before 1981 or you have a motorcycle or a boat, please email us at info@classiccarcolours.ca with the year, make and model so we can check that we can match the paint for you.
ChipFixx is the best solution for stone chip and scratch repair kits.
Each kit is made individually, by hand, matched to the paint code by our 400,000+ colour library.
Use Cleaner Leveler with the blue Leveling Cloth before applying the paint to clean any contamination inside the chip. (use a different area of the cloth when Leveling to prevent contaminating the fresh paint) - this will help if the paint is not sticking in the chips.
Please note: We do not sell Cleaner Leveler Solution separately.
If the paint is dull after leveling the chips/scratches, wax can be used to shine it up. Wait 60 minutes after applying the paint before wax so the paint can cure. We recommend ChipFixx wax for the best results.
The air temperature needs to be at least 10C (50F) in order for the paint to dry quickly. If you have access to a heated indoor space with good lighting, you can perform your repair there if it is too cold outside.
If you order the wrong paint code and require a replacement after shipment there will be a $60 + HST fee. Shipping included free of charge.

The process doesn’t take any special skill, the kits are designed for easy home use. Its as simple as clean, brush on paint and level with Cleaner Leveler Solution. If you can wash a car you can get professional touch up results with a ChipFixx kit.
Small chips will virtually disappear and should not be visible from a couple of feet away. Larger chips are easier to see afterward but the ChipFixx process, which lets you put paint only in the chip, is still much neater than dabbing sticks. Painting panels is the only way to make chips totally disappear and this costs 10 times as much as a ChipFixx kit.
We have seen cars with repaired chips many years after they were done and the paint is still holding up fine.
We guarantee the paint to be usable for 60 days. We cannot replace any paint more than 60 days after purchase. The paint itself is good for about 6 months. Please use your ChipFixx Kit before 60 days for best results.
Most cars these days have metallic or pearl paint colours and we deal with these on a daily basis. Some shades work better with the ChipFixx system than others but all should provide satisfactory results.
Why is my metallic paint a little dark?
Metallic paints contain particles that reflect light. When touchup paint is leveled, it removed the paint particles but leaves the metallics behind. This lightens up the paint.
Tri-coat paint colours are achieved by first painting the car with a solid base coat such as red or white, then several coats of an appropriate pearl paint are applied after which clear coat is sprayed on. We have colour chips on file for most of these colours and can do a satisfactory job of matching these shades. Please note we do not offer refunds or remixes on Tri-Coat paints.
Light scratches that do not go far into the clearcoat of your car’s paintjob can often be removed with our Scratch Remover. Deeper scratches that will hold paint can be treated with a ChipFixx kit like a large paint chip. Nothing short of painting a panel will make deep scratches disappear but our system offers substantial improvement and rust protection.
Click on our Paint Code Locator at the top of every page and it will take you to a diagram which will assist you in finding your paint code and you can enter the make, model and year of your car. You can use our new Paint Code Database to help you find the paint code for your vehicle. This link is at the top of every page.
Yes, you may not get as smooth a repair as on metal because plastic tends to have more rough edges around chips but you will see marked improvement.
Yes! ChipFixx is user friendly, doesn’t require special skills and if you can follow instructions you should get a good result. We are here to help so don’t be afraid to call or email.
That is easy to fix, just use the Cleaner Leveler to remove the mess and repeat the process.
What if I want my car to look like new?
The chips will have to be sanded down and re-sprayed by a competent body-shop. Touchup has limitations and nothing compares to a completely new refinish.
